Artist of the Week on Musikki – Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens is an American singer-songwriter born in Detroit, Michigan. He began his musical career as a member of Marzuki, a folk-rock band named after his brother, Marzuki Stevens, where he played guitar, percussion and “more exotic instruments”. In 2000 he released his first solo album, “A Sun Came”, recorded on 4 track and reissued 4 years later through Asthmatic Kitty Records, an independent label led by Sufjan and his stepfather Lowell Brams. Over the last decade, Sufjan has released brilliant albums like “Seven Swans” or “Illinois”, which have consolidated him as one of the most talented singer-songwriters of our time.
