Artist of the Week on Musikki – Nils Frahm

Nils Frahm is a brilliant German musician, composer and producer.  In 2008 he founded Durton Studio where he works with likeminded musicians, such as Peter Broderick, Efterklang or F.S. Blumm. He is signed to London-based independent label Erased Tapes, on which he recently released Screws, another beautiful effort to add to his young yet prolific career. Screws was composed and recorded while recovering from a broken thumb injury. With 4 screws surgically placed inside his thumb, he used 9 fingers to record 9 beautifully crafted piano recordings: You, Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, Me.
