Artist of the Week: Lykke Li
Lykke Li is a Swedish indie pop artist whose music blends several genres to form an elegant electronic soundscape upon which she lays her sensuous, retro-chic soprano-range vocals.
Though she began top post some songs on her MySpace profile in the early 2000s, it was only in 2007 that she released her first EP, Little Bit, whose electro-dance title track quickly became a Swedish mainstream and worldwide indie sensation, which paved the way for the international success of her 2008’s minimalist debut Youth Novels. After some late night shows appearances that made her even more popular in the States, Lykke Li released her atmospheric sophomore Wounded Rhymes in 2011, the perfect anthemic record to fuel a successful tour across Europe and North America.
Her third and recently released third record I Never Learn is a beautifully crafted set of break-up ballads that is a definitely a fascinating and unexpected detour in a musical career that seemed to be heading to mainstream stardom.
