Artist of the Week on Musikki – Bat for Lashes

Bat for Lashes is the moniker of British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist Natasha Khan. After studying music and virtual arts at the University of Brighton, she worked as a nursery school teacher for some time during which period she started writing material for her first album “Fur and Gold” (2006). In 2009 she released the acclaimed “Two Suns”, the first through Parlophone Records, a concept album focused on Khan’s alter ego “Pearl”. According to Khan, this album music style was influenced by bands such as TV on the Radio, MGMT and Gang Gang Dance, bands she had contact with while she was living in Brooklyn. On October 2012 and after three years of waiting “The Haunted Man” Khan’s brilliant new album was released.  The album features 11 magnificent songs including the singles “All Your Gold” and “Laura”.
